What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the file format iPhones and iPads use for photos by default. It keeps good quality at about half the size of a JPG, but many Windows programs, websites and older apps cannot open it. Converting to JPG makes the photo work almost everywhere.
How to convert HEIC to JPG
1. Tap or click "Choose photos", or drop your HEIC files on the box. 2. Pick JPG or PNG and the quality. 3. Download each photo, or use "Download all" to get one .zip file. JPG at 90% quality looks the same as the original to the eye and keeps files small. PNG keeps every pixel but makes much bigger files.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. On iPhone, iPad and Mac, Safari opens HEIC by itself, so the conversion is quick. In other browsers, this page loads a HEIC decoder (libheif) from this site the first time you need it. It is about 1.5 MB and runs on your device.
Is the quality the same?
The picture is decoded at full resolution and saved again. The photo is turned the right way up. Location and camera details are not copied into the new JPG, which is a good thing if you share it.
Tips
Converting very large batches can use a lot of memory on older phones. If the page slows down, convert 10–20 photos at a time. To keep the iPhone from creating HEIC files in future, go to Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible.
FAQ
Is it free?
Yes. There is no limit, no account and no watermark.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the photos are not sent to any server.
Can I convert Live Photos?
The still photo inside a HEIC file is converted. The motion part is not.
